Refine Your French Accent

As a teacher, I find that one of the most challenging aspects for French learners is to master pronunciation. It’s a struggle that I know all too well. As a student (many moons ago), my attempts at mimicking the French accent often left me feeling frustrated and discouraged; the ‘listen and repeat’ method that is often used by teachers never worked for me.

It took studying Linguistics at university to turn my repeated failures into success. By learning all about articulatory phonetics (the study of the way the vocal organs are used to produce speech sounds), I was able to correct and refine my pronunciation and teach others to do the same.

If you also struggle with the ‘listen and repeat’ method, I encourage you to book a lesson with me. Sometimes a little more help is necessary (I know I certainly needed it!) and that’s where trained and qualified professionals come in.
